Three task forces in the Ardennes storm

On December 20, 1944, General Maurice Rose sent three task forces of the 3rd Armored Division — Hogan, Orr and Kane — south of the Soy–Hotton line to stop the German advance. This animated map retraces, hour by hour, the journey of LTC Samuel Hogan's 400 men: the reconnaissance towards La Roche, the ambushes, the retreat to Beffe, the split of the column, and the encirclement at Marcouray.
