Doc Louis Spigelman

But the heroism does not stop there. Doc Spigelman, the unit's surgeon, also demonstrated exceptional courage. As the situation became increasingly critical, he voluntarily volunteered to stay with the 14 wounded unable to walk.

Knowing he would be captured, Spigelman chose to wait for the Germans to arrive in the village, refusing to abandon his wounded. He ended the war in captivity in a prisoner of war camp, but his sacrifice saved the lives of those in his care. This dedication, this total commitment to his comrades, is an example of pure heroism — the embodiment of brotherhood within the armed forces.
