Before The Breakout 2023
A historical event commemorating Task Force Hogan
In December 2023, the 'Hogans 400 – Before the Breakout' event brought together more than 110 military history and historical reenactment enthusiasts from around the world. This exceptional gathering, organized in honor of the famous Task Force Hogan, brought back to life an iconic moment of World War II.
One of the most memorable moments of the event was the commemorative night march, an immersive reenactment of Task Force Hogan's journey through the woods. The 110 reenactors, dressed in period uniforms, retraced the soldiers' steps in conditions as close as possible to historical reality. This solemn moment took on a special dimension with the presence of William Hogan, son of LTC Samuel Hogan, who portrayed his own father during this march.
The event was also marked by the filming of scenes for the historical documentary 'They Were 400', an anticipated project that will tell the story of Task Force Hogan and its men. This documentary, currently in production, promises to immerse viewers in the heroic accounts of these soldiers, mixing reenactments and historical testimonies.
William Hogan took advantage of this event to present his book 'Taskforce Hogan', a work in which he tells the story of his father and his men during World War II. During a warm book signing session, he shared personal anecdotes about his father and the sacrifices of this unit with the participants.
'Hogans 400 – Before the Breakout' was much more than a simple reenactment. It was a vibrant tribute to the sacrifices of the men who served in Task Force Hogan, a moment of memory and transmission. The story of Task Force Hogan continues to live through events like this one, perpetuating the memory of the 400 men who, despite adverse conditions, demonstrated unwavering courage.
