A special edition for the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge

From December 12 to 15, 2024, the peaceful municipality of Marcouray, nestled in the heart of the Belgian Ardennes, was the scene of an exceptional event: Hogans 400 – Nuts at Marcouray, a special edition marking the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. This event paid tribute to the heroism and sacrifices of the soldiers who fought during the winter of 1944-1945.

Following the enormous success of the previous edition in 2023, which had brought together more than 110 enthusiasts from across Europe and the United States, this new edition was even more immersive and grand. For four days, participants had the opportunity to immerse themselves in history through a meticulous reenactment of Task Force Hogan, at the very locations where these historical events took place.

Among the highlights was the long-awaited return of the family of Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Hogan, hero of Task Force Hogan, accompanied by the daughter of Private First Class Guidry. Their presence was a reminder of the human and personal significance of these commemorations.

Another highlight was a commemorative night march, following the paths taken by Hogan's 400 eighty years ago. It was a solemn and emotionally charged moment, where each step recalled the harsh conditions experienced by the soldiers during that icy winter.

Several commemoration ceremonies were held throughout the event to pay tribute to the Allied fighters and civilians who fell during this decisive battle. Speeches, wreath-laying and moments of reflection served to recall the price of freedom.
